Business students, communication majors, and students in other majors with junior standing at the start of the Spring semester and a minimum GPA of 2.5 are eligible to apply. The course prerequisite for the program is MKTG 3104 (marketing management). Courses taken in Lugano satisfy mandatory and/or elective course requirements, depending on your major. Participating in study abroad does not allow a student any exceptions to meeting Policy 91 requirements.
Go to the VT Education Abroad site for the program in order to complete the application process. Click the "Apply Now" button and follow the instructions. We will begin to review applications in September.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. This means that the program tends to fill up before Thanksgiving. Submit your application as soon as possible to ensure your spot for acceptance and attendance! Final deadline is December 15.
Acceptance & Deposit
If you are accepted into the program, you will get an email about paying a deposit. This deposit is non-refundable, unless the trip is cancelled.
Scholarships & Financial Aid
The program offers up to four $1200 scholarships supported by the Emily Specchio Foundation. Financial aid for the program may also be available through other Virginia Tech channels. There is more information about scholarships at the VT Education Abroad site.
